At a Starbucks coffee shop, airport or train station with no access to free internet?

No problem, if you have an iphone with any unlimited data plan.

Now you can have “satellite internet” connection anywhere and everywhere you bring your laptop to with the help of a jailbroken iPhone.

First access Cydia ->Search->download PdaNet

Then create an ad hoc connection from your laptop (which creates a temporary network for sharing internet connection or files) from your laptop .

This can be done under control Panel->Network and Sharing->Setup a connection or Network, the you will see the option to create an adhoc connection.

Choose a network name and security password. Name can be anything, (ex: iphone)

Now connect your laptop to adhoc “iphone”.

Last, open PdaNet we just downloaded and also connect to “iphone”

Wala…. you’re connected!

Same Concept applys to PC. Enjoy:)

The iPhone has been available in China through China Unicom for about one month now, but according to PC World, the sales results so far have been, well, abysmal.

Popular Chinese online retail store TaoBao sold exactly five iPhones in the first two weeks of sales: two 8GB iPhones and three 16GB iPhones. Since the Chinese version of the iPhone is maddeningly expensive — from 4,999 yuan ($730) to 6,999 yuan ($1,025), depending on the model — and currently lacks WiFi, no one really expected stellar sales numbers, but I don’t think anyone thought we’d be able to count the number of iPhones sold on one hand.

Of course, this figure does not represent all iPhone sales in China; TaoBao is just one online shop. Still, it is China’s top online retail site, so its numbers can give you a good idea of how popular the iPhone is in the country. Not very popular.

PC World lists several factors that may have contributed to the iPhone’s failure in China: the device is cheaper in Hong Kong than it is in China, also, Chinese users don’t often use credit cards for mobile micropayments, such as those in the iPhone app store. China Unicom, together with Apple, has a lot of work ahead of them if they plan to make the iPhone nearly as popular in China as it is in the U.S. and Europe.
